Whilst we might not always know or appreciate it, music is behind so much of what we feel. Whether that be a moment in a film soundtrack, when we are socialising at a venue, or deliberately spending time to listen to a piece or a song, music has the inimitable power to transform and transport our mood. From ecstatic joyfulness to deep sorrow.

Once we have got to know you as best we can, we painstakingly choose our music to reflect what their passions and loves are for music and translate that into our flexible ensemble. Our continually expanding repertoire has hundreds of pieces and songs, spanning across genres from the Baroque wonders from the likes J.S Bach, Vivaldi and Pachelbel, through the romantics of Verdi, Brahms and Debussy to modern day stalwarts that include the Beatles, Beyoncé, Coldplay and Sigur Rós. Our passionate playing of your favourite music will truly enhance your event to the next level.

Your Experienced Ensemble

Chimera Strings is as dynamic and innovative as you would like to be. Our professional musicians have decades of experience between them of playing in amazing spaces as soloists, section or orchestral leaders and smaller chamber musicians. Whether on stage as an international soloist on tour, leading orchestras at some of the most prestigious venues across the UK, or playing at an event such as a wedding or an awards ceremony, our purpose is to ensure that you and whoever our audience is, that you all truly enjoy our performance as much as we do.

We've worked on hundreds of personal occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, christenings and naming ceremonies, celebrations of life, along with corporate events such as charity fundraisers, awards ceremonies, opening and closing events just to name a few. Whilst primarily an adaptable and flexible string group from 1 to 12 players, Chimera Strings can enhance this with vocalists or other instrumentalists such as saxophonists, guitarists or brass players to name a few to match your vision.

Engaging Our Ensemble

We know how important music is and how important having the right music for your special event is. Whilst we are hugely experienced musicians having accompanied west end stars and classical greats, we would never take for granted to know what it is that you and your guests want to hear. So we make sure we get to know you in an introductory call. We will take note of what music is important to you, what does your guest list look like, what type of vibe you are going for with your event. So if you asked for a song by Ed Sheeran, we wouldn't only play that one pop song and everything else would be by Mozart and Tchaikovsky. We are sensitive to your musical tastes whether you are about to celebrate a marriage ceremony or you are an event organiser and we'll make sure we enrich your event with your perfect music.

We will then curate a perfect live playlist for you and those attending your special occasion. Where there is space in your budget and there is enough lead time, we will source or arrange as many of your special songs for your day and ensure that it seamlessly fits in to what else we can play. Through our extensive experience, there might be certain pieces which we know won't work well because of how the original is written wouldn't necessarily translate to an arrangement without words, but we will be open and upfront with what we think would be a good use of your money and ensure that we protect your budget as best we can so if that isn't possible, you can chose to save it or spend it elsewhere on something to make your day brilliant.

About our Founder

Chimera Strings was founded by Chico Chakravorty. Playing the violin for over 35 years, Chico is a hugely experienced violinist both in an orchestral and chamber music environment. Having played with numerous ensembles around the country, he has led acclaimed orchestras on national tours accompanying high profile artists such as Lucie Jones, Carly Paoli, Gareth Dafydd Morris, Ricardo Afonso, Kerry Ellis, Katy Smith and Aled Jones. Additionally, he's had the honour to play in amazing spaces such as Symphony Hall Birmingham, St David's Hall Cardiff, Westminster Central Hall London and many more.

Additionally, Chico is a huge advocate for Diversity and Inclusion in the arts and works with various ensembles to support their strategic ambitions to transform the world of orchestral music.
